“Classical Folksongs” represents the main project of the Estra Duo, a musical adventure aimed at exploring and enhancing the rich original repertoire for classical guitar and soprano, drawing inspiration from folk songs. Through a journey spanning Europe and Latin America, from the Renaissance to the 20th century, the duo has crafted a musical itinerary that weaves through the diverse geographic locations of the composers.

The culmination of this journey will be the release of the CD “Classical Folksongs” under the Da Vinci Publishing label in 2025, which aims to consolidate and share this exploration with the audience. 

The program includes iconic works of the 20th century, such as Benjamin Britten’s “Folksongs Arrangements” and Manuel de Falla’s “Siete Canciones Populares Españolas,” which reflect the composers’ exploration of the heart of their respective folklores. Additionally, the duo delves into the world of Heitor Villa-Lobos’s music, celebrating his fusion of Brazilian roots with the essence of European music in the renowned “Bachianas Brasileiras.” Through this musical exploration, the Estra Duo aims enrich and renew the bond between classical music and its folk roots.
